FOUND:RE Phoenix Hotel Announces First-Ever Arizona Photography Alliance Exhibit New Fine Art Photography Group’s Works

March 1st, 2019 5:00pm - May 31st, 2019 10:00pm

The FOUND:RE Phoenix Hotel display in the Lounge of the hotel will reflect fine art photography from members of the Arizona Photography Alliance (AZPA), a new local organization that welcomes fine art photographers, enthusiasts and supporters. This exhibit, the AZPA’s very first, will be unveiled in conjunction with downtown Phoenix’s First Friday ArtWalk on Friday, March 1 and run through Friday, May 31.

“This is a very important show for us and one of the major benefits we can offer our members who are all entitled to present their work through our group,” says Fred Ullrich, vice president of the AZPA, a spin-off of an organization that served as a part of the Phoenix Art Museum for eight years. “There will be a mix of very accomplished fine art photographers’ works as well as some entry level artists that will be exhibiting their art for the very first time — so that makes for a very interesting show.”

Since becoming independent of the Museum, the group has renamed itself, regrouped with new members and has an agenda of new activities, ideas and events they are excited to share with the local art community of photographic artists and supporters. Ullrich works closely with AZPA President Neil Miller and Program Director Richard Laugharn to develop the group to be member-driven with ideas for events and activities welcomed by all.

The AZPA exhibit is set to showcase upwards of 50 pieces of fine art photography by local members. While many members with works displayed will be on hand at the exhibit’s unveiling on Friday, March 1 from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., an official artists’ reception will also be held in the spring, with details to follow.

“We are big supporters of fine art photography and are excited to display the first exhibit of the new AZPA,” says Michael Oleskow, Cultural Curator for the FOUND:RE Phoenix Hotel. “We think our local guests and visitors will like what they see.”
